President Lennart Meri today met the representatives of the Pro Patria Union in the Riigikogu Mart Laar, Toivo Jürgenson and Tiit Sinissaar. The President congratulated them on the outstanding election results.

The Pro Patria Union representatives considered the Riigikogu Chairman election results to be proof of the stability of the union of the Pro Patria Union, the Estonian Reform Party and the Moderates.

The President repeated the position he had already voiced in his speech to the Riigikogu, namely that Estonia needs a stable, long-term government that would have sufficient time to carry out it’s programmes in peace.

The Pro Patria Union representatives assured that the union of three parties would be able to form a stable majority government very soon.
