President Lennart Meri received representatives of the Moderates faction in the Riigikogu Andres Tarand, Toomas Hendrik Ilves and Marju Lauristin, in Kadriorg today.

On the meeting with the Head of State, the Moderates informed him that they support the principles of forming the government with the Pro Patria Union and the Reform Party, and see Mart Laar as the Prime Minister.

President Lennart Meri also received today the members of the Coalition Party faction in the Riigikogu Ivi Eenmaa, Arvo Sirendi and Elmar Truu, the representatives of the Estonian Country People“s Party faction Tiit Tammsaar and Aleksander Stern, and the United People“s Party faction members Sergey Ivanov and Yevgeni Tomberg. The President discussed the principles of forming the government with the representatives of the Riigikogu factions.

The Coalition Party representatives, as well as the Estonian Country People“s Party and United People“s Party members admitted that at the present moment, they see the cabinet of the Pro Patria Union, the Reform Party, and the Moderates Party as the only force capable of forming a majority government.

The representatives of the parties not belonging to the union of three parties hoped to have efficient co-operation with the three parties’ government for building the future of Estonia.
