According to the Resolution of President Lennart Meri, this year’s President’s Folklore Awards will go to the folklore collectors Leida Oeselg and Pille Niin. This year, the President will also issue a special President’s Culture History Award, which will go to the culture historian Eduard Leppik.

The 5000-kroon folklore awards and the 3000-kroon culture history award will be paid from the President’s Cultural Foundation and handed over on a festive ceremony in the Estonian Literary Museum in Tartu on February 23 at 1 PM. At the same time, an exhibition dedicated to the Finnish national epic “Kalevala”, and the 100th anniversary of August Annist, the translator of the “Kalevala” into Estonian, will be opened in the Literary Museum.
