On the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the Republic of Estonia, Pope John Paul II, Roman Herzog, the Federal President of Germany, Boris Yeltsin, the President of the Russian Federation, and Mary McAleese, the President of Ireland, have sent their congratulations to the Office of the President. The Danish Prince Joachim has sent congratulations in the name of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark.

Congratulations have also arrived from Sir William Deane, Governor-General of Australia, Jiang Zemin, the President of the People`s Republic of China, and Mohammad Rafiq Tarar, the President of Pakistan. Congratulations on the occasion of the Independence Day and the national holiday of Estonia have also reached the President`s Office from Ezer Weizman, the President of Israel, from Ugo Mitsud Bonnici, the President of Malta, from Roméo LeBlanc, the Governor-General of Canada, from Hafez al-Assad, the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, from Süleyman Demirel, the President of Turkey, and Islam Karimov, the President of Uzbekistan.

Congratulations have arrived from the Heads of State of the United Arab Emirates and from the Government of Brazil. Many Estonians have greeted the Estonian President on the occasion of the Anniversary of the Estonian State, among them are the Holstre School and many institutions and fellowships.
