Today, President of the Republic participated in the opening of the Baltic Defence College in Tartu. After the opening ceremony, the President had a meeting with the British Defence Secretary Robertson on the college premises.

The main focus of the meeting was on the events of Kosovo; the President and the British Defence Secretary discussed the complicated situation after the Rambouillet negotiations.

The developments in Russia, and Prime Minister Primakov`s prospects of alleviating the difficult economic situation were also discussed.

President of the Republic and the British Secretary of Defence also participated in the festive reception in the Tartu University History Museum and made a tour in the Tartu University Library.
