The President of the Republic is on a working visit in Switzerland

President Lennart Meri will travel to Zurich this afternoon in order to participate in the symposium ''New Balance of Power'' at St. Gallen University, where he will deliver a presentation ''The Role of Small Countries in the Cultural Space of Europe'' tomorrow morning.

The President of the Republic merited the prize of Max Schmidheiny Foundation of the St. Gallen University in recognition of his service of the ideal of freedom and his people and his country. The prize, which is now issued for the 23rd time, will also be awarded to N. R. Narayana Murthy, the President of Infosys Technologies. The previous awardees of the prize include also Radio Free Europe.

On Sunday, May 20, the President of the Republic will confer the IV Classs Order of the Cross of St. Mary's Land to the inventor Walter Zapp.

The President will return to Estonia late Sunday evening.
