The President of the Republic received the Ambassador of Poland
05.07.2001

Today at the Kadriorg Presidential Palace, President Lennart Meri received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Poland to Estonia Mr Wojciech Wróblewski who came to deliver his credentials.

When delivering his credentials, Ambassador Wróblewski said that Poland has remained true to the flame of freedom that was lighted 21 years ago with the birth of solidarity, and assured the decisive support of Poland to the intention of Estonia to become a member of NATO. According to the Ambassador, the President of Poland Mr Aleksander Kwaśniewski is an ambassador of Estonia to NATO.

President Lennart Meri acknowledged the joint responsibility of the two countries in standing for the common European values that tend to be forgotten in the commercial society of today. They assured jointly that the good historical relationships between Poland and Estonia will provide good opportunities for the future, although there is still much to be done to make the relationships between people closer similar to the already close ties between the states.

President Meri delivered to the Ambassador of Poland an invitation for President Kwaśniewski.
