Today, President Lennart Meri wrote a letter to Mart Sõrg, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the National Bank of Estonia and to Vahur Kraft, President of the National Bank of Estonia, and congratulated them on the occasion of the approval of the Supervisory Board of the National Bank of Estonia.

In his congratulations to the President of the National Bank of Estonia the Head of State wrote that the Supervisory Board of the National Bank of Estonia has the responsibility to preserve the Estonian people's trust in our financial system as a whole. The President also wished the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the National Bank of Estonia strength in his hard work and said that the Chairman's primary task was the restoration and preservation of the confidence in our banking system – both in Estonia and abroad.

President promised to help the Chairman of the Supervisory Board and the President of the National Bank as much as he can and the Constitution allows.
