The President of the Estonia congratulated the President of the United States of America on the breakthrough in the negotiations between the leaders of Israel and Palestine. ''The Estonian people, as well as many others in Europe, know only too well how complicated the problems born out of past violence can be'', President Meri wrote. The Estonian President also pointed out that in Middle East the greatest of today's threats – terrorism – complicates the picture even further. Once more, we could see that the United States are willing and able to restrain violence, the Estonian President stated. President Meri concluded the letter with his best wishes of success and zeal for the future.
