President of the Republic decorated Lieutenant Arohonka with the Order of the Cross of the Eagle 08.08.1998Shortly before the Independence Day in 1998, President Lennart Meri signed the resolution to award the IV Class Order of the Cross of the Eagle to the retired Lieutenant Eino Johannes Arohonka from Finland.
Today, on the 85th birthday of Lieutenant Arohonka, the decoration was delivered to him by Captain Jaanus Elvre, Senior Aide-de-Camp to the President of the Republic of Estonia, and Avo Suurthal, the Political Counsellor of the Estonian Embassy in Finland.
Lieutenant Eino Arohonka served in the Finnish Army during the Continuation War with the Estonian volunteers as Aide-de-Camp to the Head of Training and Education of the Infantry Regiment JR 200. As Arohonka knew Estonian, he taught the Finnish language to the Estonian brothers in arms.
