This morning President Lennart Meri telephoned to Leonid Kutchma, President of the Republic of Ukraine, and congratulated him on the occasion of his 60th birthday. President of the Republic of Ukraine thanked Estonia for her continuously steady and peaceful co-operation with Ukraine, especially at the present time which is so difficult for the reform movement in Ukraine.

The Presidents of Estonia and Ukraine agreed to meet in the Republic of Ukraine in 1999.
