At the invitation of President Lennart Meri, the Federal President of Germany Roman Herzog will be visiting Estonia on May 15-16. The heads of state of Estonia and Germany will speak at the Symposium of the German Embassy and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation ''750 years of the Lübeck town bylaws - from town bylaws to the European law: self-managing local governments in Europe''. President Herzog will deliver a speech on the subject ''The Baltic Sea as an inland sea of Europe''.
The Federal President of Germany will arrive in Tallinn on the afternoon of 15 May with a special plane and the President of Estonia will take his guest to the Tallinn Town Hall, where the Mayor of Tallinn will welcome him and they will get acquainted with the exhibition opened in the Town Hall cellar for the celebration of the 750th anniversary of granting the Lübeck town bylaws to Tallinn.
President Meri will show its high guest also the relics of a wooden dwelling house dating from the 13th century, which was found during the excavations in Sauna Street this spring.
The Head of State of Estonia has invited the Federal President of Germany Roman Herzog to visit Estonia in order to show him the renewal of Estonia as well as to celebrate the historic event. In addition to the official meeting of the presidents of Estonia and Germany, the Federal President of Germany will also visit the German School in Tallinn, at Mustamäe.
On Saturday at 11:00 a.m. the heads of state will give a press conference in the National Library. President Herzog will leave Estonia on Saturday afternoon.
