President of Estonia received the Federal President of Germany

President Lennart Meri received the Federal President of Germany Roman Herzog this afternoon, who came to Estonia on a two-day working visit. President Meri has invited his German colleague to Estonia by the celebration of the 750th anniversary of granting the Lübeck town bylaws to Tallinn and the Head of State of Estonia will also introduce renewed Estonia to the guest.
The Presidents Meri and Herzog went from the Tallinn Airport to the centre of Tallinn and stopped near Hansabank, where the Head of State showed his guest a view of Tallinn. In the Tallinn Town Hall, the Presidents were welcomed by the Mayor Ivi Eenmaa.
President Lennart Meri introduced to his guest the exhibition on the history of the Lübeck town bylaws, displayed in the cellar of the Tallinn Town Hall, and Old Tallinn. The Presidents visited also the St. Nicholas's Church, where the famous painting by the Lübeck master Bernt Notke, Dance of Death, is kept.
For tonight, the Presidents have scheduled an official meeting. President Lennart Meri and Mrs. Helle Meri are giving a dinner in the honour of the Federal President of Germany.
