President Lennart Meri sent yesterday, on February 25, his congratulations to Valdas Adamkus upon his inauguration as President of the Republic of Lithuania.

The President of Estonia recalled their meeting in Tallinn after Adamkus won the presidential election, which conceived important new steps in the cooperation between Estonia and Lithuania. ''Firmly believing in the productiveness of this cooperation, I wish you plenty of energy and every success in your activities in the name of a prosperous Lithuania'', the Estonian head of state wrote, and he added, ''With a very sincere wish to deepen our Baltic unity.''
