President Lennart Meri today sent a message of congratulations to the Czech President Vaclav Havel on the occasion of his re-election.
Mr Havel's life has become a symbol of his country, Mr Meri wrote in his message. ''The rebirth of the Czech nation is indissolubly coupled with your activities, your humanistic philosophy,'' the message said.
Meri expressed his profound pleasure that the collaboration of the two presidents was going on and that Europe, while shaping the 21st century, could build on Havel's experience and vision.
On behalf of Helle Meri and himself Mr Meri wholeheartedly congratulated President Havel and his wife and wished them every success.
