The President of the Republic opened the Estonian-French business seminar

President Lennart Meri opened the Estonian-French business seminar in the Estonian Embassy in Paris this morning; in his speech, he called the fifty participating French entrepreneurs and company leaders to establish closer economic and business ties with Estonia. Presentations on Estonian economy were delivered by Toomas Luman, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as Allan Martinson, Chairman of the Board of Microlink, Riho Rasmann, Chairman of the Board of the Port of Tallinn, Andi Kasak, manager of the Estonian Saint-Gobain Sekurit Ltd, and Jaanus Pikani, Chairman of the Board of the Tartu University Clinic. Also Rémy Robinet-Duffo, Chairman of the Employers’ Association of Paris, and Jean Jacques Subrenat, the Ambassador of France to Estonia, gave their addresses.

In the afternoon, President Meri will meet Christian Poncelet, the President of the French Senate, and present the exhibition “Estonian Painting on the 20th Century” that was opened in the Orangery of the Senate on August 20, together with Signe Kivi, the Estonian Minister of Culture.

Tomorrow, President Meri will meet the French President Jacques Chirac.
