Wibo Aris, Honorary Consul General of the Netherlands, to President of the Republic in the Name of Honorary Consuls, September 14, 2000
14.09.2000

We came from all over the world. All continents are, I believe included. Our backgrounds are different. We have different professions. But we have one thing in common and that is that we are allowed to represent Estonia and we are proud of this task.

This morning the Second Conference of Honorary Consuls stared. We are all very impressed with what we have seen and those of us who have been here before should have noticed the progress that has been achieved. When we go home we will be even more motivated for our tasks.

We are proud to represent this country and as a small token of our appreciation we would like to present you with a painting. Three years ago we were able to do a similar thing, but now we have the chance of being a little more figurative than we were then. The painting has one dominant colour - blue, which is not only the main colour of the Estonian flag, but three years ago your lovely wife also wore a blue dress. It is a painting depicting blue irises by the painter Rein Tammik.

Thank you.
